From the earliest days of colonial settlement in Australia, particular grape varieties have thrived in specific regions suited to the cultivation of wine grapes. Many of those grape varieties and regions still produce Australian wines that are celebrated around the world today. Other grape varieties and regions have come to prominence in relatively recent times. The September club meeting will be devoted to wines, each of which are representative of an Australian wine-producing region with a “signature grape [or blend] & significant regional plantings”, as described in the monumental work “HOW TO DRINK AUSTRALIAN”. So come along expecting to taste some Aussie Classics with maybe an unexpected twist or two..
